Dear Diary,
As you know, today was the last day of my birthday vacation. I wanted to be sure it ended on a great note- and it did.
I had made plans with my friend Billy (aka William Woerner, the charming young photographer) to visit one of my, and his, favorite places: The NY Transit Museum in downtown Brooklyn!
I have been there only once before- last summer. But Billy, having grown up in Brooklyn, has fond memories of visiting from as far back as grade school (which was in the 80's for him- he's young).
We spent several hours there, oohing and aahing over everything. Billy had to touch everything. EVERYTHING. I prefer to keep my hands clean. Anyway, I took roughly a billion photos, but will show you some of my favorites here:
Gorgeous old turnstiles. I won't lie- I want to lick that teal one-

Me, pretending to be a token booth clerk circa 1946-

Inside one of my favorite vintage subway cars (this is the one I rode home in when I returned from Coney Island, on the nostalgia train ride in July)-

I love all the lines and colors in this shot-

Me, in my favorite subway car of them all, the R-11 from 1949

and a full inside view of that amazing car-

Simulating what I might have looked like on my way to work, waiting for the train-

I posed Billy to make it look like he was sitting in City Hall Station-

We obviously had a great time. :)
After the museum, we wandered around Brooklyn some more. I photographed buildings and other things I found interesting. Billy managed to snag me a "No Parking" notice for a "Gossip Girl" video shoot. (I collect those signs as I'm biking around Greenpoint and Williamsburg. I have a nice collection!) And we went to California Burritos for some fantastic Mexican food. But then I had to go home and prepare for the inevitable - going back to work the next day.
It was a super end to my vacation week. I'm glad I got to spend it with someone who loves mass transit as much as I do. Thanks, Billy.

Awww! I love the photos and the colors of the vintage cars. The picture of you as a token booth clerk is wonderful. I want to walk up and say something like, "hey doll one express token please".
Thanks, Tim! Would you tip your hat to me, too? :)
