That's my daily make up pictured above. Here is a list of each item in the order I put it on (after applying SPF moisturizer and eye cream):
- Loreal True Match foundation (approx $10.) I just use a dab or so of this around my nose or wherever I am discolored/pinkish.
- Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush (approx $6.) I am not loyal to Maybelline. I will use any creamy blush (not powder), including Revlon, in a rosy pink hue.
- Clinique Loose Face Powder, #08 Transparency Neutral (approx $20.) This is my only splurge. I use this all over my face to help set my makeup/minimize shine. I am very shiny. It does not last long.
- Loreal Wear Infinity, #901 Frosted Icing (approx $6.) I am not brand or color loyal to eye shadow. I tend to pick up egg shell/off white and gray colors. I pick it up when it's on sale - Maybelline, Loreal, or Revlon.
- Maybelline Ultra Liner waterproof liquid eyeliner, Black (approx $7.) This is, hands down, the BEST liquid eyeliner I have ever used. I started using it around 1985 and have occasionally tried other liquid eyeliners if they were on sale but ALWAYS come back to this one. I don't even know why I try others- nothing will ever top this liquid liner.
- Elite Lashes Shaggi Black, #6 (approx $3./pair- a pair lasts about 6 days) These go on after the eyeliner is dry. This is my favorite brand/size. I can only find them at Duane Reade.
- Cover Girl brow & eye makers, Black (approx $3. for a pack of 2 pencils and a sharpener) This is the best black pencil I've tried so far. I've been pretty loyal to it for at least 10 years. I use this to pencil over my eyebrows.
- Prestige Lipliner #210, Lamour (approx $4.) This is the best red pencil lipliner I've found to date. It goes on smoothly and is not greasy. I've also been using it about 1o years and am very loyal to it.
- Cover Girl Outlast #507, Ever Red-dy (approx $10.) My favorite all day wear lipstick is the Cover Girl Outlast line, and this red is perfect. I also pictured another similar lipstick I like - Loreal Infallible, #308, Target Red. This can only be bought at Target stores and is also about $10.
- Mascara - I have zero brand loyalty to mascara. I only use it on my lower lashes, so I pick whatever is cheapest. I try to spend no more than $4. Five, max.
- Maybelline Define-A-Line in Ebony Black (approx $6.) I use this if I want to line the inside of my lower lid. I do not do this all the time.
That about covers it, but if there are questions, put them in the comments.

hot damn, lady. now i know how to use some of that stuff.
my favorites are Revlon and Physician's Formula makeup. Animal-testing free and Physician's Formula feels lighter and looks better, especially their eyeshadow, concealer and finishing powder.
Thanks for sharing!! :)
Very interesting. Out of curiousity, what brand of hot rollers. I haven't found any I love.
Is your liquid liner a pen tip? BC I can only use a skinny brush, which is why I am SO completely loyal to L'Oreal Paris Lineur Intense Brush Tip Liquid Eyeliner. I have been using it since 1993, and I have tried them all (except for yours, for some reason). For women who like to apply with a tapered brush, this is the best!
Rowan, I will keep that in mind and try out Physician's Formula. My problem with eyeshadow is that I have VERY GREASY eyelids, so by noon it is usually all creamy and in the crease of my lids. Stupid greasy eyelids.
Nicole- You are welcome :)
Heather- Remington and Conair have worked fine for me. I replace them every 2 years or so. I get them at Rite Aid (or any local pharmacy/Target type store) for about 25 bucks.
Queenie- it's actually a brush. I've tried pen tip ones and other brush ones and I don't know why, but I cannot apply any of them as precisely and easily as I can the Maybelline.
Love your blogs. I'm an ex-pat NY'er in a fly-over state. The relo was charming and beautiful at first, but it's wearing thin.
I'm also a shiny, shiny gal, but the Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets truly do work wonders. I'm never without a pack.
Thanks Helen! Don't all NYers eventually come back? I can't imagine adjusting to anywhere else after living here.
I've tried those rice papers (from Asian stores) and they didn't impress me. I'd be willing to try the Clean & Clear ones though. I'll look for them at Target. Thanks for the tip.
BTW- do you have greasy eyelids too? Mine are ridiculous- after a few hours all of my eye shadow is in the crease and you would never know it had been powder. Do you have a solution for that?
because Physician's Formula is not powder-based (it's wetter) it might be a good fit for your eyelids. i also like Revlon's cream-like eye shadow (no powder either).
especially great during allergy season when my eyes are irritated by everything. let me know what happens!
I blot loose powder with a brush over my lids after I've applied my eyeshadow and eyeliner. I have very greasy lids as well and this usually works well for several hours.
Hi, I just started using the True Match foundation and I have to say it's great. My skin looks flawless, and it's only 10 bucks after years of spending almost 50 on a "high end" brand. So I was wondering what you do for your skin care? I am close to your age and from the pictures I have seen your skin looks great.
Hi Lisa, I use an SPF moisturizer on my skin every morning before I put on my make up. Loreal , Neutrogena or the Target version of Oil of Olay, whatever. That being said, I think my skin hair and nails are as healthy as they are because I eat very well (no meat for 26 years and recently vegan) and drink a lot of water. I honestly believe it has more to do with how I treat myself from the inside out than what I apply to my skin.
Lisa, I reread that and I think the one of it comes across wrong. I hope I didn't sound like an asshole. But I do think what we put into our bodies reflects on the outside appearance.
Love it! I've got my full face down to 15 minutes also. Can I pass on a product recommendation? LIke you, I have to pencil my eyebrows every day (although I use powder and an angle brush, but I'm basically creating full eyebrows as mine don't grow back). I got so annoyed at them fading/rubbing off throughout the day (especially when working out) until I found this amazing product: She-lac, by Benefit. It's a clear liquid you "paint" on overtop of the pencil. It creates this bond, so the powder/pencil doesn't rub off (comes off easily with soap/remover). I love this stuff; use it every day. Just a thin layer keeps my brows on all day! No, I don't work for Benefit, just found a great product I want to pass on!
Ooo, sorry for the double-pose, but I just noticed another comment where you mentioned your eyelids get greasy. MINE TOO -- until I starting using Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion! This stuff is AWESOME! Just a thin layer before you apply any eyeshadow, and it'll stay all day. Seriously, I would do great eye makeup, and then two hours later it would be all lined and creased, until I started using this. Some days I go 12-14 hours with full eyeshadow, and it's still there when I'm using this product, which is every day now!
Hey there - I know you said you're oily. Oddly I've dabbled in the Mary Kay Biz (I'm not promoting, just mentioning products & I am also oily) & found a couple of products I like. I use an oil mattifier, which gives the skin a matte finish & can be used throughout the day & over foundation. I also have an oil control lotion by MK. I apply all of these to my eye lids as well. I know Mark cosmetics (division of Avon) has a nice mattifying powder. I'm not loyal to any brands but finding something that controls oil & works is a big deal to me & I wanted to share, because these are the things that excite me!! I don't know if you've considered anything similiar. :)
Have a great day!
I agree with Blossom, an eyelid primer has changed my world. I used to have such issues with my shadow being creased within a few hours and my eyeliner smudging on my eyelid and underneath, but since I've started using a primer there's been no problems at all! Love the stuff!!
The Maybelline Ultra Liner waterproof liquid eyeliner, Black, is what I have recently come across & started using for my eyeliner on my top lid. I absolutely LOVE it!!!
Thanks for sharing! I have to agree with the above comments, eyelid primer saved my life-- keeps the eyeliner from falling off and settling in my eye wrinkles :( I love Smashbox and Bare Minerals ones from Sephora.
I agree on eye primers. I read on a makeup blog about Mac's Paint Pots. I was wary. I tried Painterly, and will never go back! Its not specifically a primer, but a lot of people use it as a primer. I too have greasy eyelids.
I love your blog.
For greasy eyelids (of which I also have), the Eyeshadow Potion primer from Urban Decay is the best I've found. I use it and then can use any brand of eyeshadow without any creasing, even after working out.
Bare Minerals has an eyelid primer that is AMAZING at keeping your eyeshadow where you put it! I work 12 hour shifts as a nurse and my eyeshadow looks just as good when I get home at night as it did when I left the house that morning. It's expensive but SO worth it! It comes in a very small tube but you only need a tiny dot for each eye.
Hello Bitch Cakes!
I just found you, I started the Weight Watchers today.
I am also a fan of make up but have been researching more on who tests on animals.
Try Urban Decay, they do not test on animals and also have some vegan makeup. Their Primer Potion works wonders for the eye shadow's as well!
Thanks for being here, I dig your blogs!
Thanks, most of my makeup has changed and a lot of it *is* urban decay now. But thank you, I appreciate it!
